Review
And so we've come to the end of another series. What a ride. Let's get into it.
Right off the bat I want to say that Stiefvater is a master at writing imagery and tension. She also excels at character work. The growth that these characters went through across all four books is a testament to Stiefvater's skill.
Now, there were some things that just didn't sit right with me.
To begin, I thought that introducing new characters was the wrong move. I felt like this caused the plot to sort of drag as we got just mountains of exposition and backstory and it was too much at times. It really hindered my overall enjoyment of the book. I thought it was just incredibly unnecessary and almost a cop out. As if the characters Stiefvater already had weren't enough to finish this story in a satisfying way.
I also thought a lot of the conclusions some of the characters had were, so meh. Almost rushed? I don't know, I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one.
I still really like this series, I think that despite it's flaws, it's still an excellen Young Adult Fantasy series and that Maggie Stiefvater is an excellent writer.
